Restaurant Conversations 2

More conversation practice for restaurant staff — talking to customers in English with confidence.

Vocabulary in context

Great restaurant English is an art that lives in the details. It's knowing that "of course" sounds warmer than "yes", that "allow me to check on that" is better than "I don't know", and that ending a difficult conversation with "Is there anything else I can do for you?" closes it gracefully rather than abruptly. This exercise builds the conversational vocabulary of food and beverage service with a focus on real exchanges: taking orders, explaining dishes, handling waits, responding to complaints, and checking in mid-meal in a way that feels attentive rather than intrusive. The more automatic this vocabulary becomes, the better service you'll give — because you stop thinking about the words and start thinking about the guest.
